Should the drinking age be lowered to 18?

Some people believe that it should be, since they drink illegally anyways. And others argue that it would cause more deaths and even younger ages of people drinking.

Yes. There would be less underage drinking. Students already drink alcohol illegally anyways.

Making under-age drinking legal is the argument made here. Teens aren't developed enough to be able to drink and become intoxicated while attendind high-school.

This makes no sense. If they lower the drinking age, more people could get it. That would make people who would rather wait to do it legally to do it at 18. Students do drink illegally, yes, but it doesn't make it any more right.

Yes, people already illegally underage drink, so it would just make the illegal, legal.

Yes. The drinking age should be lowered to 18. If you are old enough to fight in a war, shouldn't you be able to drink alcohol?

Side: Yes

The drinking age should not be lowered. Kids are physically not and mentally not mature enough to drink alcohol until 21. This is hurting your brain and your maturing level. The legal drinking age should remain at 21.

Side: No

No, because teenagers can be 18 while they go to school. Students can go out to lunch and come back to school intoxicated. This could negatively impact how students preform in school.

This would allow high-school students to be able to drink and supply alcohol to their friends which would cause even more under-age drinking. There are laws in place allowing kids under 18 to drink while supervised and at home with a parent so changing the law is a dangerous way to make the problem stop.

It should stay at 21. Student's would get into far more trouble if they could buy alcohol at a younger age. Those people could then get it for younger kids a lot easier. In the end, it would cause more problems.

The drinking age should not be lowered to 18. Students would drink more; therefore, there would be many more car accidents caused by drunk driving.

No, you don't have enough maturity when your sober so how can your body manage to put alcohol in your system?
